Bogota Food Festival 2008 - Alimentarte 2008

Well, you know food and travel is one of our favorite past times. So, when the Bogota Food festival was held in Parque Virrey. We were there. We were pondering, on whether to go there for lunch, or go there for onces ( snacks ) We decided for the latter. It is not your daily fair food festival, if you are familiar with food festivals held in the U.S. It is really set up for the general public. I would say, it is the same ambiance, as you would see in flea markets. A lot of different mom and pop places, selling everything, food included. Don't get me wrong, a lot of high end restaurants, were present in the event. I just like the fact, that it is really laid back and low key ( Colombia style ) This is certainly a place to be and to be seen. A lot of the high end Bogotanos are in attendance, and your fashionable telenovela actors and actresses. My wife and I had a lot of fun, we purchased a ticket for $10k, and just walked around the myriad of stands, selling everything to your stomachs content. But, since we had lunch, we were settled on getting our sweet tooth happy.

There were bands playing, and there were a lot of stands, selling and peddling newspapers, cable, and giving out free stuff. Not to mention, the weather was incredible. Like I said, on my previous post, Bogota weather has been really good this week. I only wish, it was like this everyday. Parking, was a little hard to come by, we would have used the transmilenio next time, but we were in luck. Some of the porters in the neighborhood, were permitting vehicles park their cars on the building visitors space. I can't blame this guys, as they are only making some money. They did not want to say how much, so it is up to you, how much you would give us a tip. I gave him $5k Col Pesos. He was happy. All in all, it was a great day, to enjoy food, music, beer, your significant other. Hey even the dogs, were out in full force. Bring your picnic mat, buy your food, deserts, beer or wine. It was a great family fun day. I will be at the food festival again next year.
